Anonymous asked: Do you know any good fics about North Korea NOT being a complete arse? I mean, it's really frustrating to see that the only purpose he serves in those, is to either 'get taught a lesson because Yong Soo suddenly became a damsel-in-distress because he got kidnapped by big bad north' or to 'become stupidly suicidal and nuke America/Japan/South Korea', because really, it just seems like they didn't even think about it and only included him because they needed a bad guy for their OTP fanfic. Thanks.

This is a little tricky because I don’t really read all that much fanfiction! But I’ll do my best.

The World is Transforming Around Us North Korea, after a fainting spell reveals the state of his people to his new boss, starts to come out of his isolation and rejoin the world community. Luckily for him, a certain hero is there to help. Based on recent US/N. Korea diplomatic deal ((Not so recent anymore, but I really enjoyed this when I read it.))

Six Times When Korea Unified (And Three in Which They Did Not) - A collection of (angsty) drabbles about the two Koreas. ((Koreacest, a little nsfw.))

Speak the Word Between - After a long period of isolation from each other (with their own differences causing heartache and war, as well as all the “issues” with the North), the divide finally ends for the two “halves” of Korea. ((This is a REALLY interesting take on the division of Korea and it made me cry. This one is really amazing omfg I can’t even put it into words. Koreacest again, also nsfw.))

Over the summer I also wrote a lot of drabbles and things that included North Korea, so you could look through there.

I wish I could include more but I haven’t been able to find that many good ones either!

9. Move

There was nothing more exhilarating—and unnerving—than standing face to face with his twin.

Only a few yards, separated them—and yet, they could not have been further apart. A few yards in front of Yong Soo, a concrete barrier, only a few inches high, separated North from South. A few yards beyond that, in North Korea, stood his twin.

I just had this awful angsty thought.

What if after Korea reunifies, the Koreas were all happy that they could be together again and that their nations weren’t at war and everything. But after a few years as the cultures begin to blend and the Northern culture isn’t as dominant even in the North because it’s being rejected in favor of the Southern ways, North begins to get weaker. South notices him limping and stuff but doesn’t say anything because he knows North wouldn’t want him to, but after a while North can’t walk anymore and South realizes he’s slowly dying because his government is gone and his culture is slowly assimilating with the South’s. So South has this horrible thought that maybe if he stays away from North, the influence will spread less quickly, but he knows he can’t because their time together is now limited. So he stays by him constantly even though he knows the proximity is slowly killing him.
